Start with the use case
A useful skateboard specification begins with how and where the board will be ridden. Define the discipline, rider profile, deck dimensions, construction, components, target retail price and destination market before comparing suppliers.
Deck construction questions
- What stiffness or flex is appropriate for the intended discipline?
- Which length, width, wheelbase and concave should be tested?
- Is maple, bamboo or a hybrid construction the better fit?
- What finish, artwork and grip treatment are required?
Complete-board questions
- Are truck width and geometry matched to the deck?
- What wheel diameter and hardness suit the riding surface?
- What bearing, bushing and hardware specifications are expected?
- Which packaging, labeling and documents are required for the destination market?
Prepare an RFQ
